About This Pipe
Brazilian carver Emanuel de Queiroz Emiliano offers a wide selection of pipes, with his broad portfolio almost evenly split between shape-chart standards and more sculptural, Freehand-inspired designs. This Billiard represents the traditional side of Emiliano's portfolio, being a textbook example of the classic form, complete with a proportionally balanced build and an exceptionally sleek outline. Up front, a tall bowl stands atop a firm, slightly wide heel and grows trim walls that taper gradually to a smooth, taut rim, its resulting silhouette calling to mind Danish-style Billiards. A wide transition follows the bowl and marks the start of a trim shank extended by two knuckles of warm, vibrant bamboo. The dense grass adds an organic flair to the composition and offsets the rest of the shape's dark, moody color palette. Said palette consists of an inky vulcanite stem and a crisp, inky sandblast, the latter drawing out rippling grain across the gently tapered bowl.
