About This Pipe
Who can resist a shape named Cauldron? It brings to mind exotic ingredients heated in a container, much like our tobaccos, though with fewer frogs than cauldrons traditionally cook (depending on your blend). The most obvious design element is the forward thrust of the waistline made prominent by the far side curvature of the bowl, which tucks nicely under the heel for a check mark-style silhouette. With just the slightest of curves to the near side bowl, the forward momentum is complete, and looks almost windswept.
You can see that the grain is spectacular. It has that complex, fine grain with individual angel hair strands that we all love to examine, and it's all the way around the bowl. You'll find no end of visual fascination with this piece. When you get tired of straight grain, just check out the birdseye at the heel and rim; it will make you cry tears of appreciation. And the horn fitment at the end of the shank is no slouch either. Davide has elevated himself in my esteem even higher with the pipes in this update.
