About This Pipe
Bill Shalosky's penchant for Danish shaping is often quite subtle, though in this bent Egg rendition, it is in every curve and line of the piece. Indeed, while many of the bent Egg shapes we've seen from Bill have featured bowls that dominate the fore of the piece, this one gives more space for the shank's elegant curvature, taking on a forward-ebbing profile that is enhanced by the lifting of the heel, and the soft downward turn of the saddle stem. It's been finished in one of his vibrant contrast stains, as well, the briar's grain highlighted in a swath of color, and further brought out by a trim accent of boxwood at the shank end. Neat work.
