About This Pipe

Texas-based artisan Trey Rice draws inspiration from a variety of pipe-making styles. As such, his portfolio exhibits American, Danish, and Anglo-French influences while still retaining a unique overarching style that's distinctly "Trey." This Teardrop Dublin speaks to Rice's Danish influences in particular, featuring clean lines, gentle curves, and a stylized shank-and-stem configuration.

The teardrop shank is a distinctly Danish design element, and it's present here in this Dublin. The ridgeline that establishes said shank continues throughout the stummel's entire underside, sweeping up gracefully before stopping at the teardrop shaped rim. Said rim is subtly inflated, and shows off an impressive display of birdseye. Flame grain climbs the bowl and the flanks of the shank, while more birdseye peppers to the top of the shank. Adding further emphasis to the shank's distinctive teardrop face is an accent of Ivorite, which stands out smartly against the stummel's silky smooth, chestnut finish. A gracefully bent saddle stem tops off the composition, its disc-like shoulders adding another Danish flourish to the piece. Thanks to the off-centered placement of the stummel's underscoring ridgeline, the composition is replete with elegant asymmetry and dynamism, making this a truly eye-catching piece that's sure to dazzle in any pipe collection.
