About This Pipe

Taking the wave aesthetic commonly featured across the Japanese school and lending it a more modern, dynamic stance, this freehand from Bill Shalosky features a continuous, sweeping silhouette in profile, with the aft of the bowl shaped into an asymmetrical, teardrop like form — creating the illusion of a massive swell cresting as it rolls towards the shank and stem. With its deep, sweeping transition and high-set rim, it offers a comfortable feel in hand as well, even despite its inherent asymmetry. And the grain... from the orientation to the depth of the contrast stain, Bill's done an excellent job showcasing the best this briar has to offer — with bold strokes of crossgrain and seas of mesmerizing birdseye alike.
