Sandblasted Bent Apple with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe

After becoming fascinated by the world of pipes, Dublin native Austin Quinlan began buying and restoring estate pieces, expanding his personal collection of smokers while simultaneously learning the tooling and engineering involved in pipe making. Over time, Quinlan developed a singular style rooted in the Anglo-French tradition, crafting muscular compositions with tight-knit frames. Such is the case with this bent Apple, a snug, compact design that measures less than five inches long but retains a substantive build, offering plenty of girth throughout its stummel. Up front, a pert, squat bowl stands atop a wide, lifted heel and grows trim walls that take on an arcing taper to a flat rim. A slightly angled transition follows the bowl and marks the start of an upturned shank that looks like a Reuleaux triangle in cross section. Said shank flares outward and joins a demurely curved saddle stem at a junction accented with boxwood. The warm, smoothly polished accent introduces some vibrancy and a touch of tactile contrast to the pipe's otherwise rugged and inky complexion.
