About This Pipe
Ken Dederichs' style of shaping is a subtle fusion of elements, often pairing a Tokutomi-esque organicism with the German school's sense of muscular elegance. This Acorn is one of those that combines all of those elements perfectly, creating a piece that is plump and well-rounded of bowl, its pointed heel and slip of shank and boxwood extension emphasizing its fluidity in profile. It's been finished in a warm yet dark contrast, streaks of flame readily evident surrounding the bowl, its high gloss ensuring an utterly smooth feel in hand. Beautiful work all around.
