etrohale and towards the bottom of the bowl with supporting spice. overall smooth and soft as cashmere; even the flake feels soft and fluffy. smoked out of a 1932 dunhill patent billiard, as it seemed appropriate for the blend inspiration. another one that i plan to cellar, but will have a hard time keeping my hands off....Read More

Hard to categorize and extremely interesting

the supporting flavors are constantly moving between baking spices, a little pepper, and occasional sweet notes that come and go.
The one thing that stays consistent for me is a distinct floral quality along with a tangy, almost zesty character that keeps the blend engaging from the first light to the bottom of the bowl. Every few puffs I seem to pick up something a little different.
Given the Virginia-heavy composition, I think this blend has excellent aging potential and should become even more interesting with a few years in the cellar.
If you’re a fan of lightly peated, floral Scotch, there’s a good chance you’ll appreciate what Metropolis brings to the table. It’s a unique blend that’s well worth trying....Read More

Spicy young thing

Relatively strong right from the start. Unusual for a GLP blend, this one taste young to me. Rough edges. I bought 3 tins . 2 will sit for 5 years. Overall the blend, recreates a similar experience to oriental forward blends, with perique to further advance the pepper aspects.

ere’s the smokiness and grittiness that accompanies the working class scenes; there’s the mysterious fruity notes that accompany the scenes with the scientist creating the “perfect” being. This blend truly encapsulates the overarching message of the film: “The mediator between the head and the hands must be the heart.” This mixture exemplifies the extravagance of the ruling class, the workhorse nature of the working class, and the mystical qualities of the promise of prosperity given to both. This is a perfect all day every day blend, and it truly is incredible. If you have the chance to try this, do it. You will not regret it. Caution though, It may make you question your very foundational beliefs of what makes a pipe blend great - everything else is menial in comparison.

Smooth earthy sweetness, perique is present but hard to detect, Latakia is very much in the background. I’ll give this one some age and try again. Pleasant but there are others I prefer when looking for a similar experience
