Buffalo Trace - Churchill

I’ve smoked three of these and I can’t get over the rough edges. The bitterness of the bourbon really seems to come through in these.. other spirit laden cigars seem to profile the sweetness more than the bitter aspects.. of the several varieties of whiskey, cigars that I’ve had these are the most harsh, which is unfortunate because on the other side of the equation, they are the best looking.

Spicy young thing
Relatively strong right from the start. Unusual for a GLP blend, this one taste young to me. Rough edges. I bought 3 tins . 2 will sit for 5 years. Overall the blend, recreates a similar experience to oriental forward blends, with perique to further advance the pepper aspects.

Interesting
So I just ordered this, it’s a blend. I haven’t tried in years. The last time I tried it it was a complete cube cut., good flavor, absolute harder and hell to keep lit. I noticed a recent picture of it online and I see a considerable amount of ribbon tobacco in it. I also noticed the recent reviews and no one says anything about having trouble keeping it lit. All of that considered I’m assuming something has changed since the last time I smoked it kind of excited to get it. Ok… upon receiving this tin, i opened it abruptly and discovered its true. The cube cut is finer and i would say about 10 percent ribbon cut mixed in. The topping is definitely less pronounced as well. That said, the burn is much better. Previously it could be fireproof. The brandy rounds out the blend nicely all the way top to bottom. I would say overall it’s improved burn is a fair compromise for less flavor.

Good but….
First of all, I really like the cut of these cake blends . Easy to work with easy to load. That being said by comparison of the old versus the new blend, the new blend lacks the depth of flavor. In my opinion, time should cure that issue. But I would say it’s gonna take a year to at least it’s definitely smokable now but if you’re holding onto any of the old production, you’re gonna be like what the hell is this? .

considering you van buy bullseye flake for about 70 bucks a pound less. I can't see this one being on the market long. I would have to assume they are the same tobacco.
Seattle Pipe Club - Plum Pudding Special Reserve 2oz
Good but alas needs time
I smoked some 2019 special reserve before smoking this new smoke. Its good but lacks the depth and refinement of the original. Not sure if time will being it around .
Samuel Gawith - Navy Flake Burnt Ends 8oz
good extra depth
my first foray into burnt ends. best prep for me was a sharp pair of scissors cut into small cubes and packed appropriately. the depth of flavor is definitely deeper than the regular navy flake . real nice .
J.C Newman Cigar Co. - Yagua

The interesting thing about this cigar is it's the best of the Newman line up in my opinion at a fraction of the diamond crown line . I buy about 3 boxes a year from the b&M and they are indeed consistent as long as you don't mind a few cigars strangely shaped . the flavor is a solid medium plus . they can tend to be a bit flakey ash wise . the wrapper is defiantly thick and may require a touch up or 2 .
Cornell & Diehl - Burley Flake #4 2oz
Young and green
Like a improperly cured cigar, the stuff is strong, but not for the right reasons. I don’t understand how you could consciously make it blend. That’s not ready to be sold and sell it..
