Fantastic
This is my first bowl from a 2 year old tin. Im in love. Fresh bread, cream, and just the right amount of pepper from the perique. Very little tongue bite, so slow it down a bit for this one. The tin note smelled like vinegar and spinach, which was odd, because they flavor is nothing like it smells. All around a great Virginia flake. No complaints.

Simply amazing
Ice had a few Va/Or blends but this is the number one on my list. Oriental silk by C&D is good, twilight mixture by 4th generation is better, Virginia batch #001 by fathers and friends is great....but this one is off the charts. After trying twilight blend, I started chasing that flavor. That sour funk from the oriental leaf...and ive finally found it, freshly baked sourdough bread. The Virginia in this pulls through as the crust and the butter on the bread, and the oriental leaf REALLY makes it pop to that flavorful, yeasty punch you get pulling sourdough from the oven. And this is the first blend I get that jammy, dark fruit note from the perique. This is now my favorite from any brand, or blend, that I have tried.

Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation - Fathers, Friends & Fire Batch 001 Virginia Oriental Flake 2oz
Brilliant
Well, let me begin by saying I found this at my local B&M a few days ago and the tin is dated may of 2025. I wanted to wait a little while longer before opening, but I thought to myself "its been a year. I might as well open it now since it has some good age, and if it's good just go back and get more." And boy am i glad I did. The Virginia's taste like a FRESHLY baked loaf of bread, and the oriental leaf is helping to open those bready notes to a whole other level. The first half of the bowl it had a LOT more of the oriental right up front, tasting of a floral and slightly bitter tea, and calming way down a quarter way through. At first I was slightly taken back and though, "Where did it go?" To the back seat helping those Virginia's drive straight through to your taste buds....thats where. And im ok with that. Up until this point ive been strictly enjoying my English blends and only enjoying one Virginia flake, which is Evening flake. This changes things for me. I now get it....I get why people like Virginia flakes. If you get this just do yourself one favor, look up a jazz musician named George Wein and play "When its Sleepy Time Down South". My life has been changed. Once I buy up all thier stock, ill be ordering more from Smoking Pipes. Do yourself a solid and let it age. You wont regret it.

Its not grape...
In my opinion, this is a wonderful smoke. At first I was skeptical, having read a few reviews, and finding only one video of a true opinion on this. But its delicious. The grape everyone is tasting and talking about to believe to be black currant. Its deeper in flavor than grape, but my god it tastes so much better than it smells. The topping is rich but not over powering. The flavor of the dark fruit topping mixed with the latakia pairs so well together, I forgot where I was for a moment. Which is exactly the thing im looking for in those quiet moments of peace I get to reflect. I would give it a 5 star rating if it was just a bit stronger in the vitamin N department.
