About This Pipe
The grandson of Anne Julie and a former mentee of Tom Eltang, Johannes Rasmussen is the skilled artisan behind Suhr pipes. He began pipe making at an early age, crafting his first pipe at just eight years old. Such an auspicious start helps explain Rasmussen's mastery of the craft and his ability to create intricate, distinctive designs that are uniquely his own — yet clearly shaped by the rich artisan legacy he was born into.
Embodying Rasmussen's two primary influences, this Blossom harmonizes Tom Eltang's clean, articulate lines with the floral, sculptural motifs of Anne Julie. The result is a streamlined composition centered around a bulbous, almost neoclassical bowl, defined by a splayed, forward-urging rim and grooved channels that frame the flanks. A wide transition flows into a trim shank, which is punctuated by a distinctive saddle stem. The slightly offset shoulders of the mouthpiece echo the bowl's ornate rim, introducing a touch of angularity to the otherwise streamlined aft. Completing the composition is an inky stain and ornate rustication— another clear nod to Anne Julie's signature aesthetic.
