About This Pipe
With the bowl on this Dublin taking up a lot of both visual and physical mass, the job of balancing the composition was always going to be a tough one. At least that is, without stretching the piece out even further than its quite lengthy 6.6 inches. Lasse has gone instead with a very dramatic flare of the shank face, followed by a secondary flare of the stem base, right before the stem flattens out into a wafer thin saddle arrangement. When combined with the ridge that runs along the left cheek from the forward rim, down along the base, and then back up and into the aforementioned shank face, the eye readily moves from one element to the next, easily flicking across the curve of the weighty bowl.
