Sandblasted Author Tobacco Pipe

Scottie Piersel is an American carver who produces shapes with an emphasis on functionality, longevity, and engineering. Over the course of her career, she's developed a unique style that's striking in its refinement. This Author is an excellent example of her work, as it perfectly captures the understated elegance that Piersel imbues all of her pipes with.

A textbook example of the classic shape, this piece sees a plump, well-rounded bowl posed at the fore of a sinuously bent shank-and-stem arrangement. The bowl stands atop a plump, full heel, which marks the beginning of a subtle taper toward the chamfered rim. As the bowl tapers, it produces a slightly bulbous waistline, one that conforms quite naturally to the hand. The shank-and-stem arrangement balances out the bowl's bulky prescience and keeps the shape looking rather gestural in profile, all while promoting a comfortable smoking posture. A ruby-hued smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights gorgeous grain across the stummel, while a brindled mouthpiece brings up the rear and adds a touch of vibrant color the overall form.
