About This Pipe
There's a good deal of Danish influence in this pipe from American carver Sam Adebayo, the long-shanked Acorn itself having a history amongst the Danish greats. An asymmetrical bowl is balanced atop a lengthy, upward-ebbing shank, with only the slightest spur at the heel, calling to mind certain modern iterations of the old Cutty shape. Sam's style of unusual accents is at work here as well, though he has foregone accent stems in favor of an understated, natural horn mount that provides a neutral barrier between the stummel's fiery contrast stain and the jet black vulcanite stem. It's an all-around different type of piece than what we've seen from Sam previously, though his eye for grain and proportions continues to prove excellent time and time again.
