About This Pipe

So far, the work we've received from extremely talented Chinese carver Li Zhesong has been defined by smooth flowing silhouettes and sweeping, arcing lines. There have been a few classic designs and organic freehands in the mix, but "rakish" has never been a descriptor we've associated with his style. Until now.

Featuring a number firm lines gliding along the shank and underside, culminating in an sharp, angled heel, this bold bent Dublin calls to mind the work of Poul Ilsted, with a touch of Paolo Becker's signature flare. That combination, executed in Li's meticulous, perfectionist manner, does indeed cut a rakish, even jaunty profile — one which perfectly matches the tight-knit, dense straight grain pattern covering the entire stummel.
