Smooth Acorn with Ivorite (Cardinal) (A20) (06) Tobacco Pipe

Jody Davis has conferred on this bowl an independent nature, not separate from the shank but certainly highlighted by the long transition and dramatic combination of the heel and the underside's bend in the shank. The rim is domed and generously beveled around the tobacco chamber, and comprises a fine palette for the tight birdseye dominating that surface.

The Cardinal grade is Jody's second highest, surpassed only by his extraordinarily rare Saint grade, and this Acorn has earned that lofty Cardinal designation with tight vertical grain descending the flanks of the bowl to the heel. A pale decorative fitment of Ivorite offers neat and precise contrast, and is echoed at the base of the stem by a single expansion ring, while the mouthpiece as a whole counterbalances the upward curvature of the shank and promises ample comfort to accompany the many future smokes in this pipe's future.
