His pipes, with their compact and muscular builds, reflect a strong American design influence, and this bent Egg is a handsome example. Measuring under six inches in length, this piece boasts a capacious chamber nestled inside the forward-leaning bowl. The bowl's forward-leaning posture informs the rest of the design out back, as the silhouette possesses a fluid, arcing curvature from stem to rim. The underside of the shank curves seamlessly into the bowl, and features a beautiful extension of horn. Mouton superbly framed the exquisite grain pattern, orienting beautiful birdseye along the face of the bowl, left smooth, while the flanks of the bowl are dressed in a light sandblast, highlighting stacked growth rings that expand throughout.
