About This Pipe
This sort of dramatic bent Egg is not an easy shape to get right, though Peter Heding has achieved quite the sense of balance with this piece. With its long, lean shank neatly balancing a tall bowl, the base of which forms a small spur that drops below the transition. Its shape serves to highlight the briar's grain, in particular, its flanks displaying a crisp line of cross-grain that flows the entirety of the shank, while its fore is replete with dense birdseye.
