Smooth Cherrywood with Boxwood (C) Tobacco Pipe

Slender and willowy, this Cherrywood from Il Duca's Max Rimensi presents an organic aesthetic, with the angled shaping resembling a forward-canting tree with one of its branches rising majestically toward the sky from its trunk crotch, or, in this case a low-set transition.

The tall, cylindrical bowl houses a deep chamber, with the angled, flat base allowing it to sit sturdily upright, while the shank-and-stem arrangement sweeps upward in a counterbalance to the bowl's leaning posture. This pipe wears a smooth version of the carver's bright ochre contrast stain, the colors highlighting tight-knit tendrils of wispy flame grain across all flanks, along with birdseye freckling the rim and heel. Adding further delight is a trim accenting ring of boxwood at the shank end, which is contrasted by the ebony-hued mouthpiece.
