About This Pipe
A slightly more elongated variant on Former's stout, saddle-stemmed Apple, this delightful piece keeps the bowl very much the same: a plump, near-spherical form with a slightly lower-set waistline than is the norm within the English canon. The difference, then, is in the shank, which has been shaped to be proportionally trimmer with a neat transition. The slender saddle stem accentuates the lines therein, leading to a more streamlined silhouette in profile. Like all of Former's sandblasts, the finish here is quite lovely — bringing out layer after layer of ring grain without ever compromising those aforementioned clean lines.
