About This Pipe
Danish artisan Tom Eltang is rightly regarded as among the foremost pipe carvers working today. Eltang has honed his craft for decades, sharing his knowledge with scores of promising pipe carvers over the years. A relatively uncommon shape for Eltang, especially in this iteration, this bent Apple is a unique example of his versatility. The Ball-like bowl rests on a pinched heel at the fore of a round shank that flares as it curves upward into the bent vulcanite saddle stem, accented with horn for a touch of contrast. Thanks to its plump design, the bowl and cheeked transition offer a comfortable grip in hand, while the bent stem provides an effortless clench. Dressed in a blonde natural finish, quite unique for Eltang, the stummel boasts swathes of fine birdseye along the bowl's flanks, with streaks of cross at the fore and aft.
