About This Pipe
This Tomato from Dirk Heinemann offers an organic disposition and is a bit more sleek in profile than those we've seen in the past. A bit of asymmetry is lent the squat, forward-urging bowl, as the gently protruding fore appears more low-lying than the aft. A much-abbreviated shank is extended by two knuckles of pale bamboo and rises delicately to meet the jet-black, vulcanite saddle stem. Creatively, the German artisan has shaped the dome-like base of the mouthpiece to mirror the stepped, circular width of the bamboo nodes, each increasing slightly in girth as they climb toward the bit. A striking pipe by Heinemann, the stummel wears a natural stain that's complemented by the pale hue of the accenting material.
