Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Plateaux Tobacco Pipe

American artisan David Huber is known for his distinctive approach in crafting classic forms, with this bent Dublin being a fine example of his talents. An uncommon shape for the North Carolina-based pipe maker, it reflects his affection for stout proportions, while remaining rather compact overall. The robust Dublin bowl flares upward, where it's met by a rim of darkened, craggy plateau, which is mirrored by that at the shank face. Said shank expands dramatically from the pinched transition, its lines beautifully echoing those of the bowl for a cohesive, consistent composition. It's topped by a nearly vertical, black, tapered stem that seems to sprout from its undulating, round base, which matches the rolling nature of the plateau along the shank face. The stummel is finished in a contrast-stained, low-profile sandblast, revealing concentric ring grain from the heel to the rim.
