About This Pipe
A comfort pipe by any definition, this piece by David Huber begs to be held. The soft brown stain highlights some remarkable ring grain stacked on the bowl, rising to the plateau top, which is chamfered smooth at the inner ring around the tobacco chamber. With a low transition and gently expanding shank, itself also terminating in plateau, it evokes a natural aesthetic. That characteristic is notably enhanced by the base of the stem, which undulates softly around its perimeter to echo the undulations of the plateau. The transition from shank to bowl leaves perfect spacing for draping a thumb while holding the pipe; in fact, few pipes have felt better or more natural in my hand than this one, and my hands are average sized, so if you fall within average parameters and don't have flippers, it should feel great to you as well.
