About This Pipe

Ken Dederichs is a Japanese artisan currently based in Germany. The craftsman is mostly known to follow the shaping cues of both Japanese and Danish schools of design, producing pipes that display impressive curvature and organicism. This bent Apple is a prime example of Dederichs' work, combining functionality with elegance and a keen attention to detail. Up front, the bowl is dramatically canted forward as its walls rise from a flat heel and expand toward a high waist before eventually tapering back inward to the rim. The flattened heel allows for this pipe to sit comfortably, making this an ideal piece for multitaskers. Cheeking around the transition gives way to a lifted and flaring shank, combining angularity with softness as its face becomes domed above a ridgeline. Protruding from said face is a stylized vulcanite stem that completes the pipe's bend toward the bit, its sleek composition pairing well with the smooth finish dressing the walnut-stained stummel, which boasts stunning flame grain throughout.
