Smooth Rhodesian with Buddha Bamboo (41/17) Tobacco Pipe

Chris Asteriou has a penchant for spurs. What I mean by that is the Greek carver seems to enjoy lending succinct, crisp, and well-defined points to the heels of many of his shape renditions. From Acorns, to Tomatoes, to this stout, handy Rhodesian here, the seemingly subtle detail always imparts a different sort of disposition to the shape at large. Here it juxtaposes that tidy little point with a broad, almost Saucer-like bowl, along with a stretch of thick Buddha bamboo, balanced in profile by the saddle-stem's canted base. The bamboo's natural rhythm guides the eye to the streamlined bowl, which wears a warm honey-blonde finish. A fairly modern, yet playfully pastoral briar.
