About This Pipe
Carlo Scotti brought the Castello brand to life in the late 1940s, crafting his pipes in the same shadow of the Alps as the likes of Savinelli and the Rovera family. Scotti's workshop would eventually yield the independent workshops of Caminetto and Radice, both founded by former Castello artisans, but the Castello tradition continues today with the neoclassic designs that make northern Italy such an influential player in the industry of pipe making.
This Castello Billiard features flame grain on the bowl complemented by a dark walnut stain that pairs the stummel nicely with the black acrylic stem. The bowl is topped with shallow plateau to give the pipe an especially handsome profile and the rim a fascinating natural texture. The shank is lightly muscular and very straight in its stretch back to the tapered stem. All in all, the stain is the feature of this pipe that will stand out the most on first glance, but Castello's smooth finish and straightforward shaping add considerably to its appeal.
