About This Pipe
This is one of Chris Askwith's larger renditions of the classic straight Billiard, hewing closely to a Dunhill Group 6 or even 800-series ODA, both in terms of overall dimensions and chamber depth. Shape-wise, however, it fits well into the English carver's other traditional shapes. The proportions are right in line with classic pipe chart standards, benefiting further from the exacting engineering of a skilled artisan. Dressed in a ruddy stain and detailed sandblast, the finish was well considered for a pipe of this size, as the large bowl offers all the more surface area on which to appreciate the time-consuming process needed to achieve such a sandblast — the texture low-profile to maintain the shape's lines but quite intricate regarding grain definition. Fittingly, Chris paired the traditional shape with an equally traditional, jet-black stem for a timeless aesthetic.
