About This Pipe
The man behind Yeti pipes is Montana native Micah "Yeti" Cryder, an artisan with a distinctive style and known for his organic shaping and use of Bakelite. A whole-hearted aspirant to the American shaping school, Yeti's pipes display an array of design cues and clear Danish influence. This Acorn, then, displays an organic bowl with a high waist, a lifted heel, and a rim with a smooth, softly chamfered inner edge.
Yeti displays his skill in the blasting cabinet here, with a well-executed, medium profile tanblast, accentuating superb growth rings around the bowl. The round shank smooths and tapers subtly as it approaches the stem, setting the stage nicely for the caramel and cream hues of a hand-cut Bakelite mouthpiece. The motif is unified by a two-tone golden stain, offering a gradual color change that enhances the organic aesthetic and lets the grain sing.
