About This Pipe
An architect by trade and an accomplished pipe artisan and woodworker, Trey Rice fashions pipes from his home just outside of Forth Worth, Texas. His design outlook most often centers around English and Danish classics, and his architectural eye results in pipes that are aesthetically clean and remarkably precise. Rice's portfolio most often focuses on shape-chart classics and artisan staples, supported by his tasteful accent work and refined shaping.
As if plucked directly from an early 20th-century shape chart, this Billiard reflects Rice's appreciation for vintage marques like Dunhill and Sasieni. Bold and austere, the bowl houses a generous chamber, yet Rice opted for a proportionally more slender stem to add a touch of elegance and refinement. The silver accent band supports those aspects, transitioning into a handcut stem of cumblerand whose brindled hues beautifully cohere with the smooth-polished rim's lighter stain and contrast the crisp, inky sandblast dressing the rest of the briar.
