Smooth Bent Apple with Mammoth Tobacco Pipe

Emanuel de Queiroz Emiliano started smoking in seminary and was inspired by the pipes of his countrymen to begin carving his own, having since become one of Brazil's most accomplished artisans: drawing from a variety of styles to cultivate a unique, sophisticated portfolio. This bent Apple boasts a distinctly Danish silhouette, showcasing a compact build possessed of some impressively supple curves and a rather remarkable stoutness up front. Coming in at just over five inches long, this pipe encroaches into Nosewarmer territory, its fairly petite dimensions lending it well to travel carry or slipping securely into a pocket. The transition is wide, with plenty of room to drape a digit, and it's been cheeked, tightly tucking the lines and defining the area around the bowl clearly. Stylistically, this cheeking creates an added feeling of softness around the bowl, more fully exposing its contours and extending the shank slightly beneath the bowl to cradle its bulb-like walls. Said shank curls out of the transition and flares, its flanks lined by a pair of ridgelines that also frame the comparatively flat underside and define a semi-lenticular shape with a distinct dome at the top. The shank's flare is capped with a ring of subtly rounded mammoth that acts as the junction to a sleek and demurely curved saddle stem of black vulcanite: its base shaped into a dome that lends the aft side of this pipe a touch of extra roundness. Up front, the bowl stands on a lifted heel, poising its low-set waist at a slight angle and thrusting its build into prominence as the walls make an arcing taper to the rim and create a supple, comfortable feel in hand. Dressed in a rich, warm contrast stain, the stummel showcases lovely grain, with flame running the length of the shank and surrounding the bowl, all while the underside displays a swirling pattern of birdseye.
