Sandblasted Liverpool with Bakelite (691) Tobacco Pipe

Bill Shalosky crafted his first pipe out of clay while studying Fine Arts at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Today, Shaloksy crafts pipes out of briar at BriarWorks, a workshop home to other talented American pipe makers like Pete Prevost. When making pipes, Shalosky draws on a wide range of influences but crafts predominantly traditional shapes, although his signature Brow Burners show his willingness to experiment. Furthermore, Shaloksy's pipes feature streamlined profiles, modern aesthetic sensibilities, and superb engineering to ensure an exquisite smoke.

A variant on the Canadian shape, the Liverpool opts for a rounded shank rather an an ovoid one but keeps the protracted form and the abbreviated tapered stem. Bill Shalosky lends his talents to the Liverpool here, presenting an exceptionally elongated rendition that measures in at over 7 inches in length. A supple, tapered bowl is poised at the fore, and its gentle forward-cant imbues the tidy profile with a splash of dynamism. Additionally, the traditional bowl is dressed in a detailed, jet-black sandblast, unveiling concentric, craggy growth rings, with a few flowing onto the flanks of the rounded shank. The composition is topped off by a striking Bakelite stem, the deep-blue hues offering complementary cool tones.
