About This Pipe
Dublin-born artisan Austin Quinlan's work is deeply rooted in the Anglo-French school of design. Drawing on his background in pipe refurbishment, he crafts pieces that marry meticulous artistry with precise engineering. This Apple is as classic as the shape gets, a testament to Quinlan's command of traditional proportions and shape charts. The bowl is plump and comfortably contoured, fitting naturally in the hand and setting the tone for the rest of the profile with its robust presence. While the shaping remains true to convention, the color palette adds a distinctive flair — a black palm accent at the junction introduces a touch of contrast and marks the start of the vulcanite stem's sleek taper from its shouldered base. The stummel is finished in a craggy, unstained rustication that promises to develop a rich patina over time.
