About This Pipe
Leveraging his background as both a musician and woodworker, American artisan Scott Thile combines his skills to create exceptional smoking instruments — pieces that are both elegantly shaped and precisely engineered. This Lovat is a perfect example of Thile's distinctive style, which he describes as "Danish neo-classics interpreted by North American greats." As one of his signature shapes, this Lovat elegantly showcases the compact muscularity often found in American pipe making, measuring just under five inches in total length. The bowl features a slight plumpness, with a pronounced heel that initiates the bowl's dramatic taper toward the rim. The shank complements the bowl's robust form, with its extended length and subtle taper creating a proud, muscular profile. Typical for the classic Lovat design, a concise saddle stem of black vulcanite tops off this piece. Dressing this piece is a ruby-hued sandblast, with a trim accent of Ivorite along the junction to further the visual appeal.
