About This Cigar
Originally, father-and-son duo Anthony and Carson Serino had no intention of releasing The Expat as a regular production cigar. Instead, its origins began simply as a cigar blended for a family friend's destination wedding — hence the name. This Corona Gorda features the same Ecuadorian 2000 Habano Oscuro wrapper, Nicaraguan Criollo '98 binder from Jalapa, and Nicaraguan Criollo '98 fillers from Estelí; however, the Serinos have added Pennsylvania Broadleaf to the original's filler blend, lending the regular-production version a bit more strength and boldness. Marked by a pigtail cap, shaggy foot, and budget-friendly price, The Expat is among the best candidates for an all-day, everyday smoke.

undoubtedly the flavor. It's full-bodied and undeniably reminiscent of a Cuban Bolivar. That classic, rich, and complex taste is present, showcasing quality tobacco and skillful blending. Anyone who enjoys the robust earthiness and subtle spice of a Bolivar will find a familiar and satisfying experience here. To say it's the closest Bolivar-like cigar you'll find outside of Havana is a bold claim, but I'm inclined to agree.
Strength-wise, the cigar sits comfortably in the medium-full zone, providing a satisfying kick without being overwhelming. It's a great cigar for an afternoon smoke or paired with a strong coffee after dinner.
Aesthetically, the oily wrapper is a welcome sign of quality, promising a well-conditioned and flavorful smoke. The "unwrapped foot" is certainly an oddity, and initially raised concerns about the burn. However, I was pleasantly surprised when the burn evened out and remained true throughout the smoke. This quirk, while unusual, ultimately didn't detract from the overall experience.

A suitable replacement

Ever since La Gloria Cubana discontinued the Serie N line I've searched for a suitable replacement. This is by far the closest I've ever found. Its dark and rich, earthy, spicy, but also smooth. I love these cigars.
