About This Cigar
After 12 years removed from the cigar industry, Tim Ozgener returned in 2022 with the establishment of OZ Family Cigars. A former executive at CAO, Tim is the son of founder Cano Ozgener, and his family has been a staple name in the industry since the 1990s. Now, he continues his family's cigar legacy through OFC.
Karatoba, OZ Family Cigars' fourth regular production line, derives its name from the Turkish word for dark, "kara," and the name of the world's largest volcanic lake: Lake Toba. Made in Nicaragua, the blend features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic — creating a flavor profile that begins with hints of spice before becoming more savory, like a well-seasoned bolognese sauce, and finishing with a subtle, earthy sweetness thanks to the Sumatra wrapper. The Karatoba line offers four vitolas, with this cigar being a Robusto.
