Cornell & Diehl - Burley Flake #5 2oz
Speakeasy???
Just popped a tin that was tinned on 5/1/25 and the top layer had mold.(threw that part out…) under it, the tin note and smoking experience tastes and smells exactly like C&D Speakeasy. Red Virginia and a touch of Kentucky with a boozy top note. I don’t detect the coffee/coco/nuts/rolled oats of burley much, if at all. Wasn’t what I was expecting, but it’s ok I guess. I already have C&D Speakeasy in the cellar, so I guess I have more now.
Per Jensen - Legacy Collection: Harbour Dreams 2oz
Pecan and maple
With the description of Chocolate and almonds, and the infamous Per Jensen at hand, I guess I was expecting London Burley Blend 2.0, but upon popping the tin, it was a very strong scent of pecans and maple and only that. In the smoke, it was maple and pecan also, extremely reminiscent of Captain Black Platinum, but with a spicy, rough edge to it. Definitely could tell it’s C&D burleys and Virginia’s. Granted, it is extremely fresh. I’ll sit on it for a few months and give it a go again. Maybe it will smooth out like the burleys of the long gone, beloved Mac Baren. Not bad, but not what I expected at all.

A little aged= soooooo good
Fresh, it can be alittle harsh..., but with a bout a year of age, then air it out in a jar for a few months, and this blend becomes superb!!!! So delicious and smooth, sweet deep Virginia’s, slightly earthy, slightly woody in a cedar sort of way, and the honey dies off resting in the jar and releases the superb Red Virginia flavors!! My go to blend! I’m very happy that it isn’t too popular!! More for me!!! Haha
