Cornell & Diehl - Palmetto Balkan 8oz
Another bland entry
I've tried this version and the first version. I realize C+D has a loyal following, but I just don't get it. Don't worry guys. Half of this stock will be on tin bids dot Com for 35 dollars being sold by the same sad lot that is on the call list for Esoterica every time it drops and then re sells it there. I'll do a short actual review. A monochromatic English made with some base tobaccos in every other C+D limited release. Flakes that aren't true flakes however still hold up better than Penzance crumble flake. Deep, rich Englishes are truly gone. Even the last few Eso drops were filled with hollow Latakia and Orientals. Dont worry, you didn't miss much.
Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation - Black Dot
Tobacco sales tracking like Disney World
I had a chance to get some from a piper that got it from here. Im a devout Stokkebye guy. Im also a devout SP customer. The premise of this line, good quality bulk tobacco, cheap. I realize making a coin is laborious, but a young, singular note Va/Per with average quality virginias for 100 plus an ounce is like Disney World costing 1500 a person to enjoy while half the parks are currently under construction. Escudo has been a shell of its former self, and its price equally stupid. Night Slice and this one are indeed not worth their exorbitant prices. For this cost, go over to the tin side and help yourself to some delicious higher end flakes. 2012 comes to mind. Or Pease WindJammer for less also....The Cigars on this site are overpriced, dont be that way with the bulk please.
A&C Petersen - Escudo Navy Deluxe 50g
Negative reviews due to age
Escudo is and always has been one of those tobacco tins you buy for the future. It's usually sharp and monochromatic when young, but turns into hay and stewed fruit after 5 years. Also it should be noted, after that 5 years, (as mentioned by another reviewer), it should rest in a jar after opening for a few days. Sounds like alot of work? Yes, it is. Is it worth it? I personally think so. It is currently WAY over priced. Has been for a while. But if you have a chance to pick up some 2013-2015, you will be glad you did.

Lighters - IMCO Pipe Lighter - Silver
This is not what Imco is known for
These lighters are imo complete garbage. The original Imco black and silver pipe lighters would last a decade. You're lucky to get a solid year out of these. For the money, get a zippo
Balkan Sobranie - Balkan Sobranie 50g
Just a Name Now
Was the king, now just a shell of its former self. So many better English tobaccos out there I can't imagine fighting over this newer substandard version. Its the same people saying there is no God worshipping Germains. Strange how those same people are the ones hoarding all the Eso from sites like this and reselling it on TinBids. You know who you are. And yes, you suck that badly.
Mac Baren - HH Latakia Flake 1.75oz
Makes me an English Fan
I've owned my fair share of English tobaccos. Ancient and fresh Penzance, Plum Pudding. But with the exception of Smokers Haven Exotique, and First Amendment, find myself opposed to Latakia blends. I even only have one English pipe in my collection. I just recieved this tin of HH Latakia Flake and was immediately taken aback by the texture and sweetness of the smoke. I'm already a MacBaren guy, but this will find a regular spot in my collection. Very tasty.
Wessex - Brigade Sovereign Curly Cut 50g
Teeny tiny coins
Me likey. From the various sites and various reviews, I see low nicotine to powerful in description and bland to super sweet. Part of me wants to believe that even though flavor is subjective, that this may be a blend that varies from batch to batch. I personally hate 3 nuns even though I'm a MacBaren whore. So I'd have to say it's not modeled after that. It's got a topping or casing that's sugar sweet. Alot of people don't care for that. But as a person who owns pretty much every coin ever made. It's a nice change of pace for me. Delicious. Burns well doing the Per Jensen football fold. And smells as good as it tastes. Will buy more to rate a different batch.
Seattle Pipe Club - Hogshead 4oz
Mehh
To say I'm deeply cellared with pretty much every tobacco known to modern man would be an understatement. If something new drops the most I will but is 2. Why hoarde if you don't know what you're buying? With that being said. I have so many tobacco's my bar is set high. I'm not a big SPC fan they are uneventful to me. Sutliff is a MacBaren company, but the difference is night and day in consistency and quality. The UNO that just came out, the latest batch of Galloping Gertie I just bought , and the last year Cringle Flake we're pretty bad. The last tobacco I bought from Sutliff I bought that was memorable was 2019 Cringle Flake. I have 4 of those after ample trading. With that being said. Smoking Pipes is popular and so are SPC blends. If you know something is going to drop. Set an alarm. It'll either drop at midnight, or when Smoking Pipes opens Eastern Time. This tobacco could use alot of age. It'll probably be something nice when it grows up.
Esoterica - Penzance 8oz
Good, but not equal the hype
I'll start with the good..it's typical of all Germain's tobacco. Aged, exceptional tobacco. But honestly, once you get past that Esoterica is a bunch of blends based on the original Smokers Haven original Sobranie match, then you realize if you've smoked any of the Smokers Haven Blends, you've had a better version of these. There are plenty of tobaccos that exceed the expectations for considerably less money and fuss. Now if you are one of those people that chases unicorns. Than this will scratch that itch since the tobacco is decent. But I like nuances in my tobacco , and Penzance doesn't have alot of them. I have possessed 2000, 2016, and 2020. It's all very singular and reminiscent of a blown tractor trailer tire. It sings at the first half of the bowl. Then turns singular and flat for the second half. Smokers Haven Exotique is by far my favorite of all those blend and the fine ribbon helps with the burning characteristics of that blend. I've either traded or sold all of my Penzance, and will not be acquiring any more. Peacehaven is probably the only Esoterica worth chasing and I'm sitting on plenty of that. I realize I will be upsetting alot of passionate followers of this prized leaf. But it's a tobacco that does not deserve it's impossibly loyal following. If you are one of the hoarders reselling on TinBids, you are part of the problem with these tobaccos, 45 a bag is the cost of these bags and not worth that I may add.
Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation - Evening Flake
Consistent, Tasty, and Cheap
Another great Stokkebye creation. I made a fantastic Christmas blend with this as a base. This flake has great burning characteristics. All the tang, bread, and spice a good vaper should have. If you want any, better buy it when you see it. Sells out fast. A great rotational tobacco
