Cornell & Diehl - Dreams of Kadath 2oz
Mysterious plum cake?
This is a unique blend. I thought the complexity of leaf could undermine it, but somehow it all works together. The dark and bright leaf is long and cured with some sort of plum or similar flavouring. I’d try chewing it if I didn’t know better. The smoke is fairly mild, but has a very pleasant aroma; not much flavour wise but I’m OK with that. It works.
Erinmore - Erinmore Flake 50g
Mild and sweet
This is a very simple, dependable Virginia flake; its popularity is understandable.
G. L. Pease - Temple Bar 2oz
Mild, dull
This is a very simple blend of mild tobaccos. The leaf is not in a plug despite being described as such, but the long cuts are presented nicely. Burns poorly, no flavour and minimal nicotine. The aftertaste is inoffensive and the brief lingering aroma is ok.
Missouri Meerschaum - Cornell & Diehl Charles Towne Cobbler
Handsome; but hot
A handsome pipe, but burns too hot.
Missouri Meerschaum - Boone Bent (6mm)
Elegant, but hot
I love the look and feel of this pipe, particularly its weight in hand. Like all cobs, I guess, it burns hot.
Cornell & Diehl - Blockade Runner 2oz
Sweet berries
Red and gold spongey tobacco unfolds and packs effortlessly. The tin note is sugary sweet berries. The smoke is sweet, at times heavy, Virginia. The lingering aroma is rich and pleasing. C&D makes these rum soaked blends well.
Missouri Meerschaum - Diplomat 5th Avenue Bent (6mm)
Handsome, but burns hot
This is a really handsome cob and the price is right; burns a bit too hot unfortunately.
Peterson - 3 P's Peterson's Perfect Plug 50g
Bland Burley plug
The plug itself is perfect in form. Dark and tightly packed, it smells of figs and raspberries. I wish the flavour could match this, but I found the smoke one dimensional and a bit harsh (improves a bit halfway through). No sweetness, just heavy Burley. The post smoke palate is more pleasant and there is some nicotine here.
Peterson - Flake 50g
Mild, flavourful Virginia
My gold standard for Virginia flake. Mild (not too mild), steady Virginia leaf.
Peterson - University Flake 50g
Mild and woodsy
This flake smokes cool and mild. A consistent, easy, woodsy profile.

Dried plum
This hearty blend tasted and smelled to me of sturdy Virginia leaf and prunes. I found it strong and unique - something I would enjoy on the lake during summers. The lingering aroma is so pleasing. (Jar immediately, lest the casing evaporate!)
Peterson - My Mixture 965 50g
Leathery and smooth
If you like the scent and taste of an old leather boot, like a nice Islay Scotch, go no further. This is a legendary blend.
Cornell & Diehl - Redburn 2oz
Nutty Burley, lightly sweet
An incredibly mild and singular burley with pleasing nutty aroma. Compressed spongey ribbon cake. Some hints of dried fruit. The simplicity is growing on me. In fact, I keep going back for more. Smoke slowly.
Peterson - Irish Flake 50g
Distinctive liquorice
This flake is beautiful. The tin note is deep dried fruit. The smoke has weight and is velvety smooth. It tastes to me of liquorice; the nose is bread and raisins. (Note: much of the flavour seems to depend on the freshness of the tobacco; make sure to keep jarred after opening or it will evaporate!)
Peterson - Elizabethan Mixture 50g
Earthy, peppery
This one gets hyped a lot. It’s a very honest, understated, peppery tobacco.
Tobacco Jars - Savinelli Medium Antique Ceramic "Tobacco & Segars" Tobacco Jar
She's a beauty
Absolutely lovely addition to my tobacco cellar.
Lighters - IM Corona Pipe Lighter - Old Boy White and Gold Plate
Good lighter
I previously dismissed this lighter because of a problem I found upon its delivery, along with a lack of warranty certification. The warranty certification should be filled out by Smoking Pipes so others do not need to do what I did. I paid a machinist to fix the fault. Now the lighter works and it’s quite a good lighter.
Missouri Meerschaum - Legend Rob Roy Straight (6mm)
Good smoker, but hot
First corncob pipe, so it holds a special place for me. It's only problem is it burns hot.
Peterson - De Luxe Navy Rolls 50g
Sweet bread and spice
The Virginia comes through sweet on this one; the Perique is subtle. Pleasant aroma and aftertaste.
