Unlike ceramic, plastic, metal pipe rests this leather loop is grippy enough to keep even a churchwarden from falling over. In the case of the 'warden the stem trails out parallel to a table, but the pipe doesn't fall over. It's light weight, easy to carry and, when unfolded, doubles as a small working surface upon which to load the pipe. Excellent.
