I was worried the latakia would mask the DFK, but it really doesn't. The flavour here is exactly what I was expecting from Jackknife Plug (but it didn't quite deliver), lovely strong smokey tang and smooth creamy finish. Just what I was looking for.
Two Friends - English Chocolate 2oz

It's fantastic, the tobaccos really shine through. Just a whisper of latakia to carry the virginias, my only complaint is that it doesn't quite scratch my chocolate itch, nonetheless I'd still buy more!
Cornell & Diehl - Black Duck 2oz

This is the first burley based English blend I've ever tried, it's bloody lovely! I shall have to try Big 'n' Burley to compare notes.

Such a beautiful aroma. If people complain about the smell of this smoke, they're just being silly. All flavours in the description are present; I detected some cinnamon in the retrohale which was a very pleasant surprise. Will be stocking this up for the winter.
Cornell & Diehl - Haunted Bookshop Cake 2oz
More Virginia than Burley
I was really hoping for more Burley flavour with this one, I picked up more Virginia. Honestly it's very very similar to Briar Fox. But, I'd say I prefer this as it is a touch more complex and burns cooler.

Arturo Fuente - Hemingway Short Story
Bloody love this cigar.
It's small but it packs a punch, great stogie to have around for a nice occasion, but you don't have the time to enjoy something bigger.
Cornell & Diehl - Midnight Orchard 2oz
Excellent Blend
So after giving this blend a fair chance, I've drawn the conclusion that is an excellent virginia blend! Inviting aroma, simply top notch. As an aromatic though... I suppose it's an aromatic the same way Erinmore Flake is an aromatic (which of course it isn't, it's a cased Virginia), something is definitely there but the tobaccos remain the star of the show. Glad I managed to get three tins. I'd definitely buy more if it's available next year.

Mac Baren - Virginia No. 1 3.5oz

It's a fine Virginia, a little sweet and bready, but half way through the bowl I get a distinctive soapy finish, not really what I'm looking for in any blend

I don't get the hype. I don't even understand the love or hate theory, yeah it's good, but that's it. Would I be upset if this was my desert island? Probably not. Would I buy it again? Maybe.

Evening Smoke
Well, I definitely tried this at the wrong time of day. This for sure is a smoke to take out to the pub, or to be enjoyed at an evening BBQ. I imagine a nice strong ale would pair well with this. Lots of dark flavours. I occasionally got a whiff of chargrilled smoked meats. Certainly a winner in my books. It loses half a star just becuase it wasn't as strong as I was expecting.

After smoking watchman's reach, I was a tad apprehensive that this would be very similar, boy was I wrong! To me, it's taste like Orlik Golden Slice, just without the spice. I'm thrilled with this, I shall be buying more!

Good Morning
I imagine this blend would be great to take on a camping trip in early srping or late autumn. You wake up and prep this while making a hot drink on the stove. It's very grassy but still has a creaminess to it. I don't get much citrus a lot of the time, but it is there. I always forget to smoke pure virginias slowly, but it still didn't bite! It loses a star just because it's development is a little uninteresting, otherwise a very pleasant blend.

Let it dry for a while
I smoked a bowl of this fresh from the bag and it was very fruity, but has almost zero spice and didn't get the nicotine hit I was expecting. Honestly, I felt a little hard done by. For the next bowl I tried drying for a little while, and what a difference, it smacked me silly for disrespecting it the first time! Super spicy, moderately strong, but still very very fruity, and a wonderful aroma to boot. I'm so happy I bought 16oz of this stuff, I had a feeling I'd love it!
Half and Half - Half and Half 7oz

It's a damn good blend. It's one of those, 'I don't know what to smoke' blends. I was hoping for more liquorice notes (actually I'm pushed if I can detect any at all), nonetheless, it's nutty and creamy, and the room note is pleasant enough.

Carter Hall - Carter Hall 14oz
Perfect for doing stuff
Honestly, I can't tell the difference between this and Prince Albert (maybe Carter Hall is creamier?), but that's not a bad thing. I can leave one tub at home and one at work. Is this one-dimensional? Yes. But, I like this for what it is, a nice tasting tobacco that requires no thought and/or effort while you go about doing stuff, mundane or otherwise. And it doesn't pretend to be anything else. So on that basis, it's a 5 out of 5.

I can't believe it's taken me 15 years to try this, such a wonderful blend. I just folded and stuffed this in, hardly and relights. I think this will be my new daily smoke!

Definately an all time classic for me. Such a vibrant and pleasing blend, a good pub smoke. I tend to fire this up whenever I play snooker.

Not for me
Honestly I just don't get this blend, tried various different packing in various different pipe sizes in the hopes an "ah-ha" moment will finally come... nothing. To me it's bland and boring, I really don't understand the hype this blend gets. But that's just me.
