About This Pipe
Wojtek Pastuch's eye for allowing organic cues to take the spotlight on otherwise fairly understated, traditionally-inclined forms is undeniably deft. Here, he allows a kiss of craggy plateau to add some dynamism to a smoothly-flowing, forward-inclined bent Apple shape. The easy, elegant form shows the Polish carver's penchant for Danish-inspired shaping, while also demonstrating his ability to coax not only a gorgeous display of natural patterns from a block of briar, but a visually interesting one as well. Said pattern is highlighted by stellar ruby contrast, complemented by a ring accent of creamy warthog tusk and stem of rich cumberland.
