About This Pipe

Reverse Calabash Pokers have become a signature design from Werner Mummert, ranging from modernist renditions to ones that are more traditionally inclined like this particular piece. It's a style we've seen before from Mummert, the German artisan tweaking its proportions or playfully experimenting with contrasting color palettes. This piece fits in well with those other examples and continues Werner's unique style and functionalist approach to pipe design, prioritizing engineering and craftsmanship before anything else. The tall, cylindrical bowl sits sturdily upon flat surfaces and houses a capacious chamber within. The shank is quite thick and robust, and slightly longer than would be considered standard, imbued with reverse Calabash drilling to provide a cooler, drier smoke as the smoke expands within the shank's internal chamber. Mummert has then finished it in a crisp sandblast, bringing out a stunning display of ring grain underneath a boldly eye-catching stain of emerald green that shows handsome contrast against inky black swirls.
