Werner Mummert's Bulldog designs are easily spotted from across the room, even without this one's Art Deco finish. The shape itself is firm and compact, at just under five inches in length, but paneled and angular, it strikes a cutting profile that displays a streamlined sense despite the robust proportions between bowl and shank. Said bowl is decidedly flared above the pointed, boat hull-like heel and features the conventional beadlines more along the rim than around the actual bowl. Dressed in a vibrant, swirling color palette of salmon, forest green, cerulean, and natural briar, the Deco finish's smooth lines contrast against the form's sharp ridges. It's a thoroughly unique piece in the world of pipemaking, yet fits right at home in the German carver's eclectic portfolio.
