About This Pipe
Werner Mummert's oak pipes are always stunning. Carved from oak salvaged from the beams of a 16th-century church, they carry with them not just finely-patterned grain, but a sense of classical aesthetic that pairs splendidly with his more modern style of shaping. Most of the previous ones we've seen have been finished in dark stains, however, often with stems used to accent. In this piece, on the other hand, the entire stummel has been finished in a red-hued stain, its coloring light enough to border on the pastel, and paired to a stem brindled in shades of salmon and pale green. It's a different take on the style, for sure, and reinforces his modernist style while maintaining a sleek aesthetic overall.
