About This Pipe
Following the bold Art Deco theme of his De Stijl compositions, Werner Mummert's Deco finish is quite the playful way to present some of his signature shapes, staining the briar in myriad hues and varying shades, in wild patterns to boot. In the past we've seen this colorful style applied to everything from his sharp-lined Bulldog to an otherwise conservative bamboo-shanked Pot, but this is the first example we've received of his iconic reverse-Calabash Barrel wearing the swirled, tie-dye pattern. I have to say, the more whimsical palette works quite well with the inherent playfulness of this tubular design, making for a composition you just won't find from any other maker out there. If you're a fan of Werner's wilder designs, this isn't one to miss.
