About This Pipe
If you've been around Werner Mummert's work at all in the last few years, this eccentric briar should look quite familiar. This Reverse Calabash Barrel design is a true Mummert signature, pressing that whimsical, tubular aesthetic even farther than, say, Tom Eltang's Tubos, for example. But it's not just the shape that makes these Barrels so popular; it also features a vast internal chamber housed in the latter portion of the stummel, and there's plenty of insulating briar to keep a mellow warmth in hand. This particular example is a touch shorter than the other Barrel also featured in this batch, and is presented in a far more colorful finish as well: a deep ruby stain and an extra low-profile sandblast, with the stem base/internal chamber cap plated in gold leaf.
