About This Pipe

Japanese pipe legend Hiroyuki Tokutomi creates one of only six sandblasted acorns we have placed for sale on our site, the first to be crafted from the Bo Nordh legacy briar, and the result seems to embody the concept of 'wa' itself. The bowl follows a superlative, naturally inspired form with the only overt asymmetry to be seen within the subtlest of undulations on the slender rim. While Toku-san's sandblasting aesthetic always calls for an absolute minimum of wood removal (indeed, often his blasts make your average Dane's look like Bill Taylor) this blast is especially light, but still coaxes splendid striations to the surface on the sides, as well as some first-class sparrow's eye on the front. Two knuckles of creamy bamboo are finished with a perfect bit. This pipe is a smidge over five and one-third inches quarter inches and yet weighs only 28 grams. This acorn would be a fine instrument in which to enjoy a world class flake or coin tobacco, and do so with impeccable style.
