Sandblasted Calabash Tobacco Pipe

This Calabash design from Lasse Skovgaard features the same flowing lines and whimsical shaping as his Mushroom renditions, its sinuously bent shank-and-stem combination creating quite a stunning silhouette. The shank face is teardrop-esque in shaping, with a firm yet subtle ridgeline traveling alongside the left side of the shank before merging seamlessly with the bowl's sweeping heel. A firm, undulating ridgeline demarcates the rim from the rest of the bowl, giving the composition its distinctive Calabash profile with the rim's back portion terminating in a playful upward flick. Below that ridgeline, rippling waves of ring grain cascade down the bowl and remain well-defined underneath the jet-black stain, offering plenty of crisp texture for wandering fingers. This piece readily exemplifies Lasse's more whimsical side, yet remains well-executed and primed to deliver years of smoking enjoyment.
