Though this style of arcing, sweeping form is common in Lasse's work, he's really emphasized that curling gesture in this rendition of the Pear, drawing out the strong teardrop-esque lines running from the end of the shank, through the heel, and eventually dissolving into the supple curves of the bowl. Together with the low-slung, pinched transition, those stronger lines actually work to accentuate the plump, spherical nature of the bowl itself — making the cheeks and aft even more pronounced through his use of negative space. Like all of Lasse's smooth pieces, it sports an impressive grain pattern, with a vibrant and warm contrast stain bringing added depth and dimension to the cross-grain and birdseye alike.
